Morning sessions: SCRATCH: Minecraft
SCRATCH by MIT is a great way for young students to learn coding fundamentals. Using SCRATCH, campers will employ colorful drag-and-drop coding blocks to create customized games with Minecraft characters!
Afternoon sessions: Shark Week
Campers will learn all about the ocean’s top predator in our Shark Week camp! From hammerheads to great whites, we will learn about shark behavior and why these fearsome creatures may be misunderstood. Campers will participate in games and projects, including Sharks and Minnows and will learn to build and command a roboshark!
Camp Overview
We are serving students ages 6 through 9 this summer, in a small group setting (maximum of 12 students per week). Small groups are key to building community, accommodating our campers' sensory needs (space, noise reduction), and allowing our teachers to provide individualized support to all students!
Weekly camp themes vary and include many different STEM-focused activities like SCRATCH Minecraft coding, Nanobot robotics, and simple circuits.
Location and Hours
Our summer camp is located in Room 211 at the Williamsburg Community Chapel, located at 3899 John Tyler Hwy in Williamsburg, VA. Camps run from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, and campers should bring their own nutritious snacks and lunches.
Each week of camp will have two themes: a morning and an afternoon session. Our camp is offered in collaboration with STEAMWorks Studio in Princeton, NJ, and campers will enjoy many opportunities for hands-on learning with a variety of STEM topics, as well as lots of movement and play!
